TIKKIE

Client: Tikkie Project: B2B Payment Ecosystem Expansion

Date: April 2025

Team Lead / Author: Jasper Keuskamp (Skyh.co)

The Challenge

Tikkie has become a household name in the Netherlands for its incredibly simple, frictionless peer-to-peer payment requests. Millions of consumers use it daily because it just works, no complicated steps, no unnecessary features, just quick and reliable money transfers.

The challenge emerged as Tikkie looked to expand into the B2B space. Businesses, from small shop owners and freelancers to larger finance teams, needed similar payment capabilities, but the requirements were far more complex:

  • Diverse user needs across shop owners (who want speed and simplicity), finance teams (who need reporting, invoicing, and reconciliation), and everything in between.

  • Maintaining the signature simplicity that defines Tikkie while handling enterprise-grade requirements like bulk operations, integrations, compliance, and scalability.

  • Avoiding complexity creep, the common pitfall where B2B tools become bloated, corporate-feeling software that alienates users accustomed to consumer-grade ease.

  • Growing market demand without compromising the core brand promise of effortless payments.

The goal was to bring Tikkie’s legendary simplicity to business users without adding friction or requiring extensive training.

The Solution

Skyh.co designed and delivered a scalable, modular B2B ecosystem that integrates seamlessly into Tikkie’s existing platform. This new system empowers businesses to manage payments effortlessly while preserving the intuitive, consumer-friendly feel that users love.

Key elements of the solution include:

  • Modular Architecture — Flexible components that adapt to different business sizes and needs, from solo entrepreneurs to established companies.

  • Effortless Payment Management — Tools for creating, tracking, and reconciling business payment requests with minimal steps.

  • Seamless Integration — The B2B flows feel like a natural extension of the core Tikkie experience rather than a separate, clunky enterprise module.

  • Intuitive Design — Interfaces that require no manuals — instantly understandable for both tech-savvy and less technical business users.

The result is a frictionless B2B payment system that feels authentically like Tikkie: simple, reliable, and delightful to use.

The Process

We followed Skyh.co’s high-velocity, user-centered methodology, with a strong emphasis on preserving simplicity while addressing complex B2B requirements.

  1. 🔍 User Research Conducted in-depth mapping of the needs, workflows, and pain points of shop owners, finance teams, accountants, and other business users. This included interviews, journey mapping, and analysis of real-world payment scenarios to ensure the solution addressed genuine frictions without over-engineering.

  2. 🛠 Scalable & Modular Design Created a component-based system architecture that allows different businesses to activate only the features they need. This modular approach ensures scalability and future-proofing as Tikkie’s B2B offerings evolve.

  3. 🎨 Simplicity-First Interface Design Relentlessly focused on clarity and minimalism. Every screen, interaction, and workflow was designed to “make sense immediately.” We avoided corporate jargon and complex dashboards, opting instead for glanceable, action-oriented interfaces that align with Tikkie’s consumer roots.

  4. 📢 Seamless Platform Integration Embedded the new B2B capabilities smoothly into the existing Tikkie experience. This involved careful consideration of navigation, user flows, branding consistency, and technical integration points to avoid disrupting the core consumer product.

  5. Iterative Testing & Refinement Ran multiple rounds of user testing with real business users, iterating rapidly based on feedback. We continued refining until the system felt effortless and intuitive across different user segments.

The Outcome

The expanded B2B ecosystem delivered transformative results for Tikkie:

  • Frictionless B2B payments that businesses genuinely enjoy using, dramatically lowering adoption barriers.

  • Maintained brand simplicity — The B2B features feel like a natural evolution rather than a departure from Tikkie’s core identity.

  • Scalability across business types — Shop owners get quick tools, while finance teams gain the depth they need without complexity.

  • Higher engagement and satisfaction with the platform’s business capabilities.

  • Strengthened Tikkie’s position as a versatile payment solution for both consumers and businesses.
